Juicing For a Cure -- The Juice Jar

The Juice Jar is a cozy restaurant for friends and family to gather, put down the phones, and enjoy clean food.
Heidi, who is from Erie, opened The Juice Jar on February 29, 2016 and is the first restaurant that she has owned. The name comes from her idea of wanting to use mason jars for her drinks for sustainability reasons, but her reason for opening the restaurant is a little different. Heidi was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and everything she ate made her sick, so she watched a documentary on clean eating and juicing. After watching the documentary she decided to start eating clean and juicing which has helped her manage her disease. This was her main reason to open the restaurant, but also she wanted someone to cook for her.

Everyday, Heidi is working in the business open to close and works on the business when she gets home. What she thinks makes her restaurant different from others is that, "We use all fresh ingredients, everything is made from scratch and made to order so customers can customize their order." Their most popular items are the smoothies, smoothie bowls, and gluten-free desserts. Heidi's favorite menu item is the lemon bar and had one practically everyday when they first opened, and her other favorite is their gluten-free chickpea burger. They list all of their ingredients on all menu items so they do not have any secret recipes, but if a customer asks for a recipe so they can make it at home, they gladly share it with them.

Having returning customers helps Heidi with getting to know her customers and how they positively impact their lives. She has found success in becoming friends with the customers, making them feel welcome, and having great customer service. Since there are too many amazing experiences, some of her best are being connected on a daily basis with the customers.

Heidi would like to begin implementing more education and develop more locations. The Juice Jar is more than just juice, they have food, education on clean eating (Lunch and Learn), a space in the basement for meditation, yoga, and relaxation.
