Jekyll and Hyde -- Review

The atmosphere of downtown Erie had its usual buzzing on a Saturday night with local college students finding a bar to go to with their friends. I had just finished dinner with my mom and my friend's parents when they decided they too wanted to find somewhere to continue the fun. Some other parents were at a bar downtown called Jekyll and Hyde and we decided to go as well.

Jekyll and Hyde is located on the corner of 10th and State Street in downtown Erie, and is next door to a bar that college students frequent. You could tell that the two bars were for two different crowds, this one being more for coworkers to stop by after work for a drink while the other was more for partying.

We joined the other parents in the back bar area here there were high tables and seating at the bar, while there is also a dining area at the front. The back section was pretty small, but had a full functioning bar, televisions, and you could see the kitchen. We pulled a few tables together so we could all sit together and the staff did not mind at all.

Even though there were not too many inside where we were it was still loud and energetic which made for a fun night with the parents. The parents enjoyed their drinks and I enjoyed my water and the conversations we were all having on a late Saturday night. We watched out the windows for the lively action with people leaving, going, and walking around downtown Erie to the different bars which was fun for us.

Inside the second bar area where we were they had two boards with specials, one was for drinks and the other was for food. Most of the food on the specials board were appetizers and things to share, but it did have some full meals. On their menu for the other bar area they have a somewhat small menu with sandwiches, salads, and snacks, along with a seasonal menu, but it all sounds delicious. For example, on their seasonal menu right now they have pot pie of the month and a curried sweet potato and cauliflower wrap along with other options.

I would definitely like to go back to eat some of their food, because it all sounds really great and the atmosphere there was worth going back for. The building that Jekyll and Hyde is in is a 100 year old building that they remodeled and it looks great on the inside and outside.
