NEW App Discovery -- DoorDash

As many Erie college students know, getting tired of the food at the dining halls happens pretty fast, and the hunt for other good food is always on our minds. With the trend of getting food from Uber Eats, Postmates, or GrubHub beginning several years ago, I just discovered the app DoorDash. It is frustrating trying to order food to be delivered but then finding out that Uber Eats or Postmates is not available in your area. Postmates began in 2011, then DoorDash in 2013, and finally Uber Eats in 2014 I feel like I am very behind in finding DoorDash.

This app allows you to order take out food to be delivered right to your door from both local restaurants and chains, and the most surprising part is that it is available in Erie. Additionally, it is not just a handful of restaurants, its actually a lot of various restaurants. When I dowloaded the app I was astonished at the choices there are for the Erie area. It is a really great and convenient tool for not only students, but people that live here and everywhere.

Now, there are pros and cons for all of the food delivery services, but if you do not live in a big city you may not have many options. As of right now, Postmates is not available in Erie, but the other three are. Even though they are available to order from, there are limitations on where you can order from and a minimum of how much you need to spend. From the three to choose from, Uber Eats and DoorDash have the most options, but DoorDash seems to have much more.

When it comes down to it, it just depends on what you are craving and how much you want to spend. Being able to have food delivered right to your door and food not just from chains, changes family meals. Instead of ordering a pizza from a chain, you can now order a full meal from your favorite local bar or Italian restaurant!
