I Put the "Smooth" in Smoothie -- The Juice Jar Review

I was finally able to make it over to The Juice Jar, near Presque Isle, when my mom was in town for the weekend. We have a similar restaurant in Buffalo, New York called Squeeze Juicery that also have smoothies and pressed juices. After interviewing Heidi at The Juice Jar, I knew I had to come back to try their healthy foods and beverages.

Right now, the entrance of the restaurant has Christmas decorations on display, which I am all for, most of them being for sale. From little signs to stockings there are some nice gifts for people to pick out to get started on their Christmas shopping. The rest of the restaurant has many unique details that look like could have been picked out from a garage sale and was refurbished. The atmosphere is very cozy, rustic, and makes everyone feel at home while chatting with a friend or getting their work done. Although there could be a shortage of seating for people, they still try to provide as much as possible with different size tables, a bar area, and a coffee table with a couch and some chairs around it.

Once you order your food and/or drink, there are more things to browse, some of those things being organic home products or clever dog hand towels. The products are quirky and fun for those who like to give a gift that is a little different than usual. Along with browsing the different products, they also have books, magazines, and board games to entertain you while waiting for or during your meal.

I was in between the "Raspbalance" and the "Namas'yay'" smoothies and the employee taking our order was very helpful with assisting in figuring out which one to order. I ended up with the "Namas'yay'" and my mom ordered the "Raspbalance" which were both super good and filling. We were able to pick from either a small or a large and both ordered larges, and I made my way over to the food display and picked out a peanut and fudge cup (which is vegan and gluten-free). The cup had fudge on the bottom made with either dates or figs and on top of the peanut butter were chocolate chips, this was perfect to share. Along with smoothies, smoothie bowls, and juices they also have burgers, salads, wraps, and other small items.

Even though my mom and I were in a little bit of a hurry, we still really enjoyed the restaurant and its smoothies. The prices are understandable with the ingredients being expensive, but if students bring their ID they receive a discount and an extra discount during happy hour! I cannot wait to go back and try something new!
